Walking in the Domaine des Barrenques park, you are immediately struck by the height of the trees. Here, more than 52 different tree species are present, some of which are classified as “remarkable trees”. Some trees have been there for several centuries. Bald Cypresses and Giant Redwoods, planted in the 19th century, dominate the lawns with incredible presence. Standing next to them are around sixty majestic plane trees, some of which are 2 centuries old, and in particular the imposing 'Cathedral of the plane trees', this alley that is now popular for secular ceremonies.

Typical of Provençal gardens, the trees offer shade and freshness during the long summer days. A magnificent ginko, bright in autumn, an old yew tree, majestic pines and even giant birches...

And everywhere, as a common olfactory and aesthetic thread, the giant magnolia tree that produces large, spectacular white flowers In summer as well as aromatic Provençal plants such as lavender, thyme, rosemary and olive trees are part of the Mediterranean identity of the place.

Giving Dead Trees a Second Life

Because nature follows its cycles, some trees end up dying. But at Domaine des Barrenques, nothing is lost. A dead tree is never uprooted and then forgotten: it is honored, transformed, celebrated.

Some become monumental sculptures, made by local artists to become benches, works of art, totem poles or even libraries. It is also a way for us to tell that each tree has a story, a function, even after its death.

At the Domaine des Barrenques, the transformation of dead trees was entrusted to one and the same artist: Mireille Vanson. A sculptor recognized for her sensitive approach, she brings these disappeared trees back to life by creating unique works. Each trunk thus becomes a poetic piece, whether it is a bench, a totem or a mushroom. Mireille does not seek to erase the history of the tree, but on the contrary to reveal it: its scars, its curves, its knots become material for inspiration. Thanks to her, these trees continue to live differently and to inhabit the estate, this time as artistic witnesses to the soul of the place. These sculptures bring a unique artistic dimension to the park, where each work interacts with its environment.

A more modern touch, Ana Maria's refined geometric Corten metal sculptures dialogue and contrast with the wooden one by Mireille Vanson.

After a civil ceremony celebrated discreetly on August 8, 2013, Valérie Bègue and Camille Lacourt chose Gala to open the photo album of their spiritual marriage at Chateau des Barrenques.

Music and poetry united this couple of great romantics in front of their families and friends.

To surround Madame, Miss France and friends, always under the supervision of Sylvie Tellier, were present. Alexandra Rosenfeld, who took care of the bachelorette party as the best friend and godmother of Valérie Bègue's daughter, was particularly moved during this big day.
